Opening of "Woven in Time"
Exhibit at the Missouri History Museum

Woven in Time is supported in part by tribute gifts from members and friends to remember or honor a special weaver, an inspiring weaving teacher, or just one's personal connection with weaving. Tribute gift forms can be printed out from Tribute Gift.pdf or can be requested from Marilyn Emerson Holtzer, President, weaver.raveloe@gmail.com or 314-863-5229.

On September 10, 2011, Weavers' Guild of St. Louis members and guests were the first to view "Woven in Time", our retrospective exhibit commemorating the 85th anniversary of the Guild, produced in collaboration with the Missouri History Museum. After having a group photo taken and spending time in the gallery, a potluck reception was enjoyed in the nearby Forest Park visitors' center.

Call For Sale Items

The gift shop at the Missouri History Museum is interested in having fine fiber arts available for sale during the year-long Woven In Time exhibit.

Some basic facts:
• Items will be taken on a consignment basis with the terms being 50% to the artist and 50% to the shop. The shop takes full responsibility for any damage or wear incurred while the piece is in the shop. The artist is free to set the price. • Items with a lower price point ($10 to $20) generally sell better, but they are excited about having fine handmade items in the $50 to $100 range as well. • Each year the shop has a themed Christmas tree and this year’s tree will be devoted to handmade fiber art so the manager is looking for an interesting mix of ornaments. • The WGSL will jury all Items before they are offered to the History Museum.

The next steps are to gather samples of items our members are interested in having included for sale, having our jury review them, and then presenting the items for consideration to the Gift Shop Manager who will make the selection of items to offer. If you’re interested in including your items for sale at the Missouri History Museum Gift Shop please contact Jane Olson Glidden for more information.

Jane can be reached at gaglidden@aol.com 636-343-564
