Donna Kallner is known for the contemporary ways she uses ancient techniques to tell timeless stories. Her work is exhibited nationally and included in Fiberarts Design Book 7, she is a popular speaker, and she shares her excitement and energy in workshops she teaches across the country.

In this “Permission to Play” class, learn simple ways to add magic to plain-jane fabric and then construct that fabric into a 3 dimensional vessel of your own design. We’ll start with a day of Fiber Mojo Surface Design, sampling a variety of media including inks, oil sticks and different types of textile paints. You will design an original stamp, make printing plates with party string, and learn a simple image transfer technique. In addition to surface design on silk and cotton fabrics you’ll learn to add pizzazz to thread, waxed linen and even silk ribbon. Then you will use paper, muslin and duct tape to create models and 2 dimensional patterns for 3 dimensional vessels, and construct a vessel from your Mojo fabric. Hand-stitching adds texture and color and lets you have your way with the basic shape during construction. You may even add some more Mojo. Come see what evolves! Bring an apron, scissors and a roll of duct tape and come for a fast-paced weekend of inspiration and fun.
