Felting a hat or a purse can be a refreshingly short-term project, yielding something wonderful and unique in a day. This is Ruth’s adaptation of felter Beth Beede’s “hat on a ball”, and as such can be done in the space of a kitchen sink and a spot on the counter top next to it. The paper mache’ technique allows for a great deal of control in the placement of color and design, as well as several styling possibilities.

The session will begin with a brief description of what and why felt is and include examples of felt from various breeds of wool. Simple sampling methods of felting will be shown. After the paper mache’ technique is described, participants will pick out the permanently mothproofed, wool color batts they choose to use. Everyone will complete a hat or purse and take it home to dry, and to enjoy forever!

Experience level: All levels.

Workshop fees: Please make checks payable to the Weavers’ Guild of St. Louis.

Workshop fee- $35.00 member, $40.00 nonmember,

plus a Material fee payable to the instructor for a hat $25 or purse $35.

Cancellation Policy: A 100% refund until one month prior to the workshop and a 50% refund between 4 and 2 weeks prior. There is no refund for cancellation within 2 weeks of the workshop.
