The View from My Chair: a note from the sale chairman,Jane Glidden

One of the suggestions at our post Sale discussion back in December was to extend our Sale by an extra day. It was discussed that we could make our Sale available to many more customers who have not always been able to attend with our hours limited to Friday and Saturday. So the decision was made to explore the possibility with the Artist’s Guild. We could not extend into Sunday because they have another show already scheduled to open on Sunday afternoon, so we asked to extend the Sale by beginning a day earlier on Thursday.

Well, I’m very pleased and excited to announce that the Artist’s Guild has approved our request! It’s now official; our 22nd Annual Weavers’ Guild Sale will be a three day Sale! (November 18, 19 and 20)

In another new development, a suggestion was made to consider doing a Spring Guild Sale as well as our established November Sale. The Artist Guild closes down for a few weeks each March to clean and paint. They would be willing to give us a few days for a Sale during that time period. The real plus for this Spring Sale would be the fact that the walls would empty and available for wall pieces! This is a very tempting opportunity! If you are interested in helping to organize this Sale please let me know. I am rather overwhelmed at the possibility of chairing both Sales and would love someone to help with the process. Or if someone would like to take on the publicity responsibilities, I would be more able to concentrate on the organization of the Sales.

This is such an exciting time for our Guild Sale! We have a wonderful opportunity to expand our Sale capabilities to include more of our artists who concentrate on art pieces for wall installations. We’ve never been able to give them the same opportunity to get their work more visible in the St. Louis area. I really hope we can make this happen!
