Kitchen Towel Exchange 2001

Weavers' Guild of St. Louis
75th Anniversary
Kitchen Towel Odyssey

Just sit back and you'll hear a tale,
The yarn of our towel-clad ship.
Its keel was laid by our local guild
With the goal of a birthday trip,

Every member planned to weave three towels,
Each to a certain size.
For color, structure and design--
The limits were the skies.

Threading errors lurked and warp threads broke,
And time took wings and fled.
But towels we wove as you can see
Even though our fingers bled.

We'll cast off now--hurrah, hurrah,
Ship ahoy, farewell to you.
We're on our way to a fun-filled port
Upon a sea, calm and blue.

We'll whistle as we sail along
and sing a chanty or two,
Our weaving hearts are happy now
Because our task is through!

(to be sung to the theme for the "Gilligan's Island" television show)
