Saturday and Sunday ~ February 6-7, 2010 ~ 9:00am – 4:30pm

Come learn how to tablet weave!  Tablet weaving has aspects that will appeal to both spinners and weavers.  Produce wonderful bands and handles for hand woven/hand knit bags.  Tablet weaving produces one of the most durable weaves for straps of any use.  This workshop will cover the basics of tablet weaving and beyond.  On the first day, setup and weaving will be discussed with an emphasis on threaded-in patterns.  The second day will cover more advance designs using Egyptian Diagonals and Doublefaced patterns.

John Mullarkey is a member of the Weavers Guild of St. Louis, and has been tablet weaving for more than five years.  He has taught tablet weaving at the Midwest Weavers’ Association’s Conference as well as at Complex Weavers’ biannual seminar.  He started tablet weaving because the initial investment in this “loomless” technique was so inexpensive.  He continues to tablet weave (neglecting his floor loom) because it is such a fascinating and flexible form of weaving.
